Empowering Youth, Shaping Futures: CGP25 Enters Its Second Phase

The Chevening Guidance Project (CGP) was first launched in July 2024 as one of our flagship initiatives, with a clear and powerful mission: to stand by ambitious Yemeni and Arab applicants, especially those in conflict-affected countries, empowering them to take confident steps toward winning the Chevening Scholarship and pursuing their studies in the UK.

During its first version, CGP successfully supported and guided more than 100 young men and women, among whom 16 young leaders from the Middle East and North Africa, including eight from Yemen , went on to secure Chevening Scholarships.

Following this success, the second version of the project was launched in July 2025, expanding its reach and introducing new areas of mentorship and collaboration. We are now proudly in the second phase of this version — a stage focused on deeper engagement, enhanced training, and stronger community impact across the region.

Within a few months this project has established itself as much more impactful than expected. CGP has evolved into a vibrant community of over 600 aspirational and motivated applicants, who all share one thing in common; no matter the adversity that they face on a daily basis, their desire to learn, grow and bring about positive change is unmatched. Every single day, their resilience, their hope and, most importantly, their drive to not let the circumstances around them get in the way of their ambitions, is truly what inspires us to do what we do.

Guiding them on all steps of their Chevening application process throughout Phase One, from helping applicants craft their personal statements and other key elements of their application to boosting their leadership portfolios to truly showcase their impact on change, has been a tremendous experience. We are so grateful to have been able to make a difference for every single participant in whatever small way we could and are now thrilled to announce that CGP Phase Two has officially begun!

Building on everything we’ve achieved during Phase One, we are now ready to guide applicants through another critical element of their journey to the UK and beyond; university applications. During this phase (from October 2025 to June 2026 ), our focus will be on helping participants identify the right programs and universities to apply for in the UK, drafting personal statements and, most importantly, taking those first steps towards achieving their academic goals.

Here at the Chevening Guidance Project, delivered by the Yemen Chevening Hub, we truly believe in the potential of youth in the Arab world; especially those who come from conflict-affected areas and continue to thrive and strive for excellence no matter the circumstances.
